OOO #26: Outfits, Ohio, and Other Things I Like
I missed fleet week, a little summer treat, and how I keep my white shirts like new

Now that the weather is warming up and it’s (unofficially) summer, my favorite treat has made a reappearance at Fox in the Snow: the tomato tart.
Fox in the Snow is one of the closest coffee shops to my house, and sometimes I’ll make a stop there on my way home from yoga on the weekends. As a vegetarian, I often find it hard to find something savory at breakfast places that isn’t egg-based (no shade to eggs), and the tomato tart always hits the spot. It’s buttery, cheesy, salty, and full of juicy tomatoes and basil. I love the way the crust of the tart crumbles, and while it is incredibly rich, I always think about how much I want one any time I walk past Fox in the Snow.
I’m always in favor of seasonal eating, but I’ve been very sad each time the tomato tart is retired for the winter. If you’re near Fox in the Snow, just get one. Oh, and get one of their salted brownies too.

Other Things I Like
I struggled for years to find the ideal white button down shirt. While the best, in my opinion, is Sezane’s Tomboy Shirt, I typically wear the Uniqlo Rayon Long-Sleeve Blouse. They’re inexpensive, come in tons of colors, and drip dry without too many wrinkles. But, unlike the Tomboy Shirt, they are totally diaphanous (nice for warmer days) and therefore see-through, meaning I needed to find an undershirt after buying my first one.
As a person who sweats profusely in any social situation ( ✨✨✨), I was looking for an undershirt that would specifically address that issue in addition to doing its job as an undershirt. My first Internet search came up with a few contenders, but I decided to go with Numi. I chose Numi over its competitors because it was (at the time) the only company to offer skin-toned undershirts in a spectrum of skin tones rather than just light beige, and I wanted to support a company that was doing the right thing. Voting with our money is one way we can exercise power as individual consumers in a capitalist society, but I digress.
Numis come in multiple silhouettes: I have several Numi Signature Undershirts, as well as a boat neck version that doesn’t seem to be sold anymore (explain yourselves, Numi????). Numi also sells crop tops, three quarter-length sleeves, cap sleeves, mock turtlenecks, plus camisoles that don’t have the underarm protection. The Signature Undershirt has a high cut side and a low cut side (see below); I have worn them with the low cut in both the front and the back before depending on the cut of my top. It didn’t bunch in any weird way no matter how I wore it.
Numis have kept my sweaters, shirts, and even some dresses (including the dress from the “Outfits” section above) cleaner, fresher, and in better shape than I could have ever dreamed, and if you’re looking for some high quality, sweat wicking undershirts, they are undoubtedly worth the price (yes, they are more expensive than the Uniqlo tops). I wear each of my Numis once a week during the school year, and I have yet to replace any since I bought my first one in 2019. I also haven’t had to replace a white shirt since then either. I guess Numis are one of those things in which the high initial investment pays off in the long run. In other words: #worthit
That’s it! Have a great rest of your week.
