OOO #33: Outfits, Ohio, and Other Things I Like
To be fair, my shoes DO make a lot of noise, good pizza in Columbus, and the best game from the NYT

Ohio
After trying about a dozen different places, I think I’ve found my favorite pizza in Columbus.
Growing up on Long Island meant that pizza wasn’t an *option* for a meal, it was an eventuality. I have probably eaten more pizza than any other food (other than maybe yogurt or apples). I have gone on a pizza crawl in New York, been a member of a pizza club in DC, and visited the oldest pizzeria in Naples (so, the world?). I love New York and Neapolitan pizza style equally, and I have very strong opinions on what makes for a good pizza (hint, it’s not adding a bunch of toppings, which is usually just overcompensation for bad crust, weak tomato sauce, and bland cheese).
My favorite pizza in Columbus is Yellow Brick Pizza. The crust is the right amount of crispy and doughy; it crunches when you fold it but is still soft on the inside. The tomato sauce is clearly FROM tomatoes rather than some amalgamation of processed products, and the cheese is fresh and plentiful and not overly salty. I also vaguely remember having some sort of white slice from them in the past, which *can* be a gamble, and it ended up being very good. Also, I am forever indebted to Yellow Brick’s Franklinton location for making 20 pizzas for my student actors and stage crew the day of my high school’s Shakespeare play (To be clear, I am emotionally indebted, not financially. I did pay my bill).
If you’re in Columbus and looking for some good pizza, Yellow Brick is my suggestion.
Other Things I Like
I am one of those people who still plays the Wordle. I’m a part of group chat that shares their answers every day, and I truly adore those wonderful humans and all of their smack talk with my whole heart.
Someone on the group chat recently introduced us to Connections, also from The New York Times. At the time of writing (July 9), Connections is still in Beta and not on the NYT games app yet (yes, I do pay for the app 🫠), but it’s worth having to search for it on the Internet each day.
When you enter the game, you are greeted by a 4x4 grid with terms that can be matched in multiple ways, like the grid below.
You must choose the correct four groupings of four, and if you do it without mistakes, you get a very aesthetically pleasing result.
Each color represents the difficulty of the grouping (yellow = easy, purple = very tricky, either due to red herrings from other categories or an esoteric way they are all connected. A couple of days ago the purple grouping was words that all can be spelled solely with Roman numerals. *chef’s kiss*). Like the above grid, there are always terms that can be grouped in multiple categories (a kiwi is a tropical fruit and a bird, a doc is an attachment and one of the seven dwarfs) and the ONLY mistake I’ve made so far was due to me categorizing Turkey as a country rather than a bird (of course Turkey causes me headaches. What else is new.)
If you’re looking for a fun but quick (Sudoku and the Spelling Bee just take too long!) challenge, Connections is worth a try!
That’s it! Have a great rest of your week! And Ohioans—don’t forget to mark your calendars and make your voting plan for August 8!
Connections is now my new favorite thing!!
