OOO #84: Outfits, Ohio, and Other Things I Like
Perhaps the most creative response to my pregnant body, a new business, and my favorite Halloween decorations
Outfits
This is the last one from my pregnancy!
Ohio
For the last year, I have been secretly wishing for an alternative coffee shop within reasonable walking distance from my house. Luckily for me, Jennings Java just opened a cafe right on Moler and 4th. My husband and I went to its grand opening this weekend. It was packed! I love to see a new, local business thriving.
I appreciate that Jennings cares deeply about coffee; they are coffee roasters first and foremost, and my husband and I agree that their drinks are really good. The cafe is inviting and an easy spot to post up and do some work, and I clocked that they had bagels, which will only encourage me to spend more time there during the summer. Also, the owner complimented me on my hat, so I will indeed be back soon.
Other Things I Like
I spent most of December 2023 detailing my favorite Christmas decorations, so I figured I should share some of my most beloved Halloween decorations as well.
One of my oldest Halloween decorations is this candle holder. I’ve had it for as long as I remember; I remember being very small when I touched it the first time, and I was afraid I was going to break it. love the vines that wind up the stem of the candle holder and I love the jack-o-lantern’s smile. I have no idea where it came from, and I realize now, that I don’t think I’ve ever burned a candle in it. Time to change that!
My husband and I bought this on a whim a few years ago as a Halloween craft project. I decided to paint the pumpkins all sorts of colors, mostly due to the array of colors you can grow pumpkins in Animal Crossing and I suppose in real life. It’s cute and friendly, which is my Halloween aesthetic, and pairs nicely with this light up pumpkin stack blow mold we got our first year in Columbus.
Speaking of light up blow molds, this cute cat is our most recent acquisition. My husband had some sort of absurd coupon for Michael’s and I found this little cutie and decided to get her. I love seeing her little smile when I come home from a late errand or a yoga class; what a sweet little bean.
In general: I feel like we as a society have taken a step back from Halloween decorations and that is a mistake. So, when decorations go on sale on November 1, getting something sweet for next year.
